Fired Rockstar Devs Say Players Should Still Buy GTA 6: Don’t Boycott The Game, Support Our Legal Battle Instead

Grand Theft Auto 6 GTA 6 IWGB Rockstar Games
Some of the devs who say they were fired from Rockstar Games in 2025 due to their involvement in creating and supporting a workplace union are asking people not to boycott Grand Theft Auto 6 this November. Instead, they want fans to show their support by buying shirts that help fund the developers legal battle against Rockstar over the companys alleged union-busting.
As spotted by TWIV , a new video uploaded by the IWGB (Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain) features three of the over 30 former Rockstar staff members who were in the middle of unionizing when they were abruptly fired in October 2025 . They spoke directly to players about what fans can do to support them, and answered the question many have been asking over and over since the news broke out: Should fans boycott GTA 6 ?
Dont boycott GTA 6 , explained the fired workers. Win justice for the people who helped make it.
“We spent years pouring our hard work, skill, and creativity into making GTA , and we want people to experience the universe that we helped build. That doesnt mean we want you to let Rockstar off the hook, they added.
After the firings, the IWGB called Rockstars actions “ one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the games industry.” In November 2025, the group officially filed legal claims against Rockstar. Rockstar has claimed that the workers were fired for leaking info about GTA 6. A final trial to determine if the company broke the law will begin in September. And ahead of that trial, the fired workers are asking for support to help them take on Rockstar Games and its millions of dollars.
As a small, grassroots union with limited legal capacity taking on a multi-billion pound company, we’re not headed into this final round on an even footing, said the fired workers in their new video. But we’ve got something they don’t: Workers and gamers around the world who believe in the right to organize, and are willing to stand with us to protect the right.”
To help support the group and its legal fight, they are asking players to buy T-shirts featuring the IWGB name and logo and a new design created by the fired devs. The proceeds will be used to support the fired workers and their court case against Rockstar Games.
So if you love GTA , but hate union-busting, dont boycott the game; support our legal battle instead, added the fired devs. GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox. It is going to be one of the largest video game launches in history.
