Grand Theft Auto 6 GTA 6 Leak Rockstar Games

New videos showcasing what appears to be gameplay from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 have leaked online and are spreading like wildfire. And while Kotaku cant 100-percent confirm their authenticity, they do seem to be real and are possibly part of a larger hack tied to GTA 6 s lack of physical copies at launch.

On August 18, a website named Cyberleek began posting what appears to be leaked gameplay footage of GTA 6 . The site also has images of what the leaker claims is the full GTA 6 map .

Some of this content is already being removed from the web. When I clicked on one of the leaked map images on the site, it sent me to an error page. Ive also seen some video uploads on Twitter removed due to a report by the copyright owner. More than likely, Take-Two Interactive is actively going after these uploads to get them removed, seemingly confirming they are real.

On Twitter and other parts of the web, people are uploading and sharing the supposedly leaked gameplay footage of GTA 6. Some of the footage shows Jason at his home, walking around, and playing basketball. Another clip shows a car being driven into a van on a sunny highway before both the driver of the van and the car get out and begin fighting. Combat in this clip seems similar to Red Dead Redemption II.

In one of the videos, the song Impact by SG Lewis, Robyn, and Channel Tres can be heard playing on the radio before the driver gets out. On YouTube, some of the top comments are already referencing this leak.

While some clips leaked today seem real, plenty of people online are also sharing AI-generated clips and screenshots and claiming these are part of the leak. Ive already seen old, proven-fake clips shared online as well as clips from the leak that happened back in 2022. It was four years ago next month that Rockstar Games suffered a massive data breach and gameplay footage of a very early development build leaked online. The footage seen in this new leak, assuming its real, seems to be from a build thats noticeably further along. However, we have no idea when the gameplay seen in the reported leaks was recorded, and it is likely from an unfinished build of GTA 6 not meant to be seen by the public.

On the Cyberleek site, the apparent leaker has posted a lengthy manifesto seemingly positioning the leaked gameplay as punishment for publishers offering digital-only preorders and not supporting offline modes for games, among other demands.

Kotaku has contacted Rockstar Games about the reportedly leaked gameplay and map images.
